The Tour de France has now crossed the English Channel back to France. Meanwhile, another of the World’s Great sporting events is taking place across the Atlantic in South America. The FIFA World Cup had inspired the staff and children at St Edmunds School in Enfield to do a penalty shoot out competition in their Code Club. Some of the Key Stage 1 children sent GO this article.
Members of the Code Club from Years 4 and 5 helped Mrs Pearson to run a penalty competition in Key Stage 1 using Roamers.
First everyone who entered had to design a shirt for the Roamer to wear which we stuck on its back. We went every lunchtime for two weeks. We set up a goal and a penalty spot and the children had to program the Roamers to “kick” the ball into the goal. We timed them and the three fastest got a prize.
Lots of children took part and we all enjoyed it.
